We had the pleasure of working with the Country Style magazine team to photograph Emma’s family farm “Tarmaroo” in NSW’s Hunter Valley for their 2017 Christmas cover shoot. It was such a thrill to work with the incredibly talented team to bring their Christmas cover page to life.
“The Farm” has been in the family for close to 30 years and underwent a major renovation in the mid 2000’s. Emma worked with her parents to design and select some beautiful textures and features for this country home. It was a unique brief that required a lot of practical decisions for hardworking interiors. Plenty of mud and dirt gets tracked through the house on a daily basis and especially when extended family or friends are visiting, not to mention the fluffy friends who like to sneak into the house paddock when no one’s watching!
The farmhouse has been constructed using sandstone quarried from the property itself. The original house had been built in the 1980’s using sandstone blocks cut from large boulders on the property. When Emma’s parents started planning a renovation they knew they wanted to use more of the sandstone from the property so they commissioned the same stonemason to construct a number of additional walls. The remainder of the renovation was constructed from Timbercrete, Merbau timber and Ritek roofing.
